Community Resource Advocate

Community Resource Advocacy program seeks a bilingual, full-time Advocate. Under the general direction of the Director of Community Resource Advocacy, this position is responsible for specialized and individualized case management and advocacy to survivors of sexual abuse, domestic violence, child abuse and human trafficking that improves survivors’ self- sufficiency. A primary focus is providing short to mid-term case management to underserved populations to obtain housing stability and linkage to support services in the community.

About this position:

  • We need you to fill the role of Community Resource Advocate - Bilingual Required. This is a full-time, non-exempt position at our Grove Blvd campus. Service delivery will be performed both in person on campus and throughout the Austin metro area with some remote work. We will pay you an annual salary of $46,000-$48,000 depending on experience, plus an additional language differential of $3,600 annually to those bilingual in English and Spanish.

Key Duties:

  • Screen and assess appropriate services for survivors seeking assistance.
  • Provide in-person client centered, trauma-informed information and referrals.
  • Assist participants in setting short term goals to gain self-sufficiency including housing search, budgeting, identifying, and seeking needed resources, accessing employment training, life skills, etc. during case management.
  • Possess a high level of work ethics with handling confidential client information, appropriately sets professional boundaries, be able to communicate and respond appropriately to the cultural differences among staff and clients.
  • Be able to effectively process and keep up with various grant requirements, manage multiple demands on your attention, and be able to clearly document and maintain client files as directed by funder requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field or equivalent years' work experience.
  • At least 1 years’ experience providing case management or advocacy is required.
  • At least 1 year experience working with homeless population and trauma survivors with co-occurring disorders preferred.
  • Knowledge of sexual and domestic violence, human trafficking, and child abuse preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is REQUIRED.
  • Position requires driving. Your own dependable transportation is needed.
  • Must have all the following:
    • Valid State of Texas Driver’s License
    • At least three (3) consecutive years of driving experience OR one (1) year of driving experience if over 27 years of age
    • If in possession of an out of state license, obtain a State of Texas Driver’s License within 90 days of beginning employment.
  • Pass all required criminal history background checks (including an FBI fingerprint check), as well as a pre-employment drug screen and TB test (if applicable).

Please Note: All new employees regardless of FTE status will be required to start their employment on either the 1st or 16th of the month and will be required to attend a three-day new employee orientation that is held both in-person and virtually the first three days of the month.
