Development Officer – Corporate and Organizational Engagement

The SAFE Development team seeks to fill the full-time position of Development Officer – Corporate and Organizational Engagement. This person is responsible for planning and implementing a robust giving and engagement program targeting corporations, small businesses, civic and community groups and the individuals within those groups. While the primary goal is fundraising, SAFE recognizes that these organizations respond most generously when their employees and members are actively engaged with our mission through volunteer opportunities, giving and engagement circles, attending events, and SAFE involvement within these organizations. The DO will be responsible for community networking, prospecting, cultivating, public presentations, solicitation and stewardship for a very large portfolio of donors and prospects.

About this position:

  • We need you to fill the role of Development Officer – Corporate and Organizational Engagement. This is a full-time exempt position that is either at our Rathgeber Village Campus (4800 Manor Road) or working remotely in the community as there are some travel expectations throughout Austin area to various meetings and event locations (when safe). We will pay you an annual salary of $50,000 - $55,000 depending on experience.​​​​​​​

Key Duties:

  • Manages a portfolio of current corporate and organizational donors, including cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of current and lapsed corporate, organizational, and institutional donors.
  • Enthusiastically and intentionally networks and prospects across all communities in Austin, valuing differences in others and recognizing the strengths and resources that a diverse network of volunteers, sponsors and donors can bring to SAFE.
  • Develops an Annual Appeal plan for corporate and organizational donors and works closely with the Development team to build robust corporate giving strategies that engage corporations/organizations across all channels of giving and support.
  • Inspires engagement and builds relationships within corporate/organizational groups and the employees or members of their organizations, and must be comfortable networking, speaking to large groups, and making gift presentations to decision-makers.
  • Plans carefully and works closely with marketing and communications staff on all communications needs.
  • Proficiency in the use of a personal computer and with standard office, design, and web programs and applications.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or relevant training/experience.
  • At least three to five years’ experience in fundraising, sales, or business development preferred.
  • External interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse internal and external constituencies.
  • Organized, multi-tasker. Unflappable.
  • Adhere to Guiding Principles, Mission, Core Competencies, and Confidentiality Policy.
  • Pass all required criminal history background checks (including an FBI fingerprint check), as well a pre-employment drug screen and TB test.
