Volunteer Services Onboarding & Volunteer Coordinator
The Volunteer Services Team is seeking a Volunteer Services and Volunteer & Onboarding Coordinator to provide general administrative and logistical support, including assisting the Community Volunteer Coordinator with Special Event and Group support. This position is responsible for operational and technical volunteer, intern, and community partner personnel duties.

About this position:
- We are looking for one person to work on a full-time, non-exempt basis for an annual salary range of $41,000 - $44,000 dependent upon experience. The work location will be at our Grove Blvd. Campus in the East Austin area. This position will include some local travel and will allow for some remote/hybrid work.
Key Duties:
- Responds to volunteer and staff questions and requests for information in a customer focused manner and instills trust when responding to requests for performing clerical functions.
- Displays a high level of resilience when coordinating across all departments and externally to ensure that agency-wide volunteer management resources such as the SAFE’s Volunteer Policies are consistent and compliant with agency standards, policies, and procedures.
- Values differences and demonstrates exceptional interpersonal skills when meeting with diverse groups of people while facilitating new hire onboarding for interns based across all SAFE campuses.
- Utilizes outstanding interpersonal skills and instills trust when assisting with the info session, and onboarding and screening of new volunteers, interns, and partner agency staff to the agency.
- Respects opinions and values differences when conducting volunteer interviews, and assisting with group volunteer projects, and other meetings aimed toward increased volunteer engagement, training, and retention.
- Prepares and maintains all volunteer, intern, and community partner files, including filing required papers and documents, and auditing for compliance, completion, and accuracy, as instructed.
- Tracks background checks, drug screens, and TB tests, and ensures that the agency always remains compliant.
- Utilizes decision quality framework when making judgements about acceptable volunteer, intern, and partner agency onboarding documentation.
- Creatively compiles and edits various volunteer applications and forms and other Volunteer Services-related or customer-focused documents.
- Maintains the Volunteer Info Session Roster and Core Advocate Training Roster and registration process to ensure accurate reporting of volunteer hours and records and payment of fees.
- Provide notary services when necessary.
- Work evenings and weekends as required.
- The ability to maintain good professional boundaries as this position does not have staff supervision but does supervise volunteers.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Human Resources or other related field (Bachelor’s Degree preferred)
- Certification in Volunteer Administration or Volunteer Management preferred.
- Three years’ experience in Volunteer Management or Human Resources, or onboarding and background screening, and preferably within the nonprofit sector; or any equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience with various technical programs such as Volunteer Management systems (i.e., Volunteer Hub), Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and Database Systems (i.e., Apricot).
- Pass all required criminal history background checks (including an FBI fingerprint check, if applicable), as well as a pre-employment drug screen and TB test.
- All employees are required to comply with policies regarding COVID-19, which may be subject to change. COVID vaccines are still highly recommended, and we encourage employees to get vaccinated if they are able.
- Must have all the following:
- Valid, State of Texas Driver’s License.
- At least three (3) consecutive years of driving experience OR one (1) year of driving experience if over 27 years of age.
- An acceptable driving record.
- If in possession of an out-of-state license, obtain a State of Texas Driver’s License within 90 days of beginning employment.

Please Note: All new employees regardless of employment status will be required to start their employment on either the 1st or 16th of the month and will be required to attend a three-day new employee orientation that is held both in-person and virtually the first three days of the month.
