SAFE Institute Director

The SAFE Institute seeks a full-time director. This person will be responsible for scaling SAFE’s earned revenue division, SAFE Institute. SAFE Institute provides paid custom training, consulting, and resources to help companies, institutions and communities foster healthier, safer, and more inclusive environments. SAFE Institute harnesses the know-how of industry leaders working at SAFE, and deploys our expertise to those who need it.  The cornerstone of the SAFE Institute is the BASE Program, which works with businesses to build safe, respectful workplaces utilizing training (including sexual harassment prevention), along with consulting and incident response.

Lead generation and strategic analysis are important aspects of the position, along with exceptional systems development skills, and attention to detail.  The ideal candidate has experience researching market trends, targeting relationships and using proven methods to develop our business strategy while retaining strong working relationships with SAFE program staff and with SAFE Institute clients.

About this position:

  • We need you to fill the role of SAFE Institute Director. We need someone with strong interpersonal and communication skills, a dedication to the SAFE Institute mission, and a strong entrepreneurial spirit. This is a full time, exempt position at either our Grove campus (1515 Grove Boulevard) or our Rathgeber Village campus (4800 Manor Road). There are some travel expectations, as trainings will occur both remotely and (once safe) in person with groups throughout Central Texas. Key Duties:

  • Grow the SAFE Institute into a full-blown, earned revenue enterprise, with income that benefits the work of The SAFE Alliance.
  • Work with staff and senior advisors to develop strategies to build out the customer base, product offerings, and marketing and communications plans for SAFE Institute and its relevant programs.
  • Track the progress of SAFE Institute and provide the proper financial tracking to ensure payment and program allocation/recognition.
  • Manage and streamline centralized systems for fielding and addressing requests for SAFE Institute training and consulting services.
  • Work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to ensure continual forward moving progress.
  • Is responsible for developing and implementing a successful plan for SAFE Institute that includes objective benchmarks.
  • Is responsible for a revenue goal.
  • Work with the SAFE Senior Leadership Team to develop and implement strategic communications and marketing plans for the agency’s earned income program.
  • Research prospective clients in targeted markets, and work with an external SDR (Sales Development Rep) to nurture new business.
  • Create, develop and implement new initiatives to advance the SAFE Institute goals, for example programs like SAFE Supported Businesses.
  • Collaborate with the communications and marketing team and graphic designer to ensure that all materials are created in a timely way and are on brand.
  • Follow the latest industry developments and stay up-to-date on corporate competitors.
  • Display interpersonal skills as part of work to coordinate with the CPSO, Co-CEO and SAFE Senior Leadership Team to ensure prioritization of requests/activities, communication and follow through toward identified projects and goals.
  • Value differences, particularly in relation to managing the design, writing and production of all marketing and outreach materials for all external audiences.
  • Behave resiliently, and easily rebounds from change, setbacks, and adversity and when dealing with complex and/or difficult situations.
  • Instill trust as part of the work to manage and develop relationships with both the internal SAFE programs and the external clients and stakeholders.
  • Perform all other duties as needed and assigned.


  • Have a demonstrated track record of growing earned revenue for nonprofits and/or scaling a fee- for-service model.
  • Have a skillset in budgeting and billing/accounts receivable.
  • Work cooperatively with external partners and constituencies.
  • Have experience building and scaling a successful team.
  • Have three to seven years of experience in marketing and/or business development.
  • Have a basic understanding of finance and financial systems.
  • Be able to demonstrate your training skills.
  • Have excellent personal and professional references.
  • Spanish fluency a plus.
  • Pass all required criminal history background checks (including an FBI fingerprint check), as well a pre-employment drug screen and TB test.
