Project Coordinator and Educator (Holistic Healing)

Disability Services seeks a full time Project Coordinator and Trainer who will focus on increasing access to healing services for crime victims living or spending their days in staffed service settings and/or who have little if any access to traditional crime victims services including individual counseling, peer support programs, and/or other support group settings specifically for survivors of crime.

About this position:

  • We need you to fill the role of Project Coordinator and Educator. This is a full time, exempt position at our Grove Resource Center. Job accountabilities include operating a 2-year grant project designed to increase SAFE’s capacity to provide healing/recovery services to crime victims with disabilities in settings where they are already receiving services. (e.g., group homes, day habilitation, rehabilitation settings, supported employment and other residential and service programs). We will pay you an annual salary of $40,000 to $44,000 dependent upon experience.

Key Duties:

  • Works in collaboration with people with disabilities, other project staff, and community based disability service/advocacy agencies to provide holistic healing supports/services.
  • Train peer support specialists to deliver/co-deliver Holistic Healing services among peers with disabilities with groups already meeting regularly. 
  • Arrange and oversee Holistic Healing Workshops for crime victims with disabilities.
  • Provide training to law enforcement stakeholders, disability service providers and SAFE service staff/volunteers on providing trauma-informed services to crime victims with a range of disabilities (physical, intellectual/developmental, sensory, mental health, etc.).
  • Evaluate agency accessibility and collaboratively develop an accessibility plan with SAFE staff and volunteers (including conducting data collection activities).
  • Work collaboratively with community partners, other project staff, and agency team to update SAFE’s Language Access Plan.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold a 4-year degree in education, social work, rehabilitation counseling, psychology, or a related field or experience/skills commensurate with a degree. Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with people with intellectual/developmental disabilities through community-integrated disability services, schools, and/or other settings required.
  • Life experience or experience working with people with disabilities and providing services to crime victims will be given strong preference.
  • Preferred experience in Holistic Healing strategies and exercises including breathing techniques, positive self-talk, body scan, chair yoga, etc."
  • Proficiency in Spanish and/or American Sign Language (ASL preferred).
  • Strong belief in self-determination, empowerment, choice, inclusion, opportunity and options for people with disabilities.
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with a variety of people and groups.
  • Must have demonstrated experience educating/training professionals and people with a range of disabilities including intellectual, developmental.
  • Reliable transportations required for local travel.
  • Pass all required criminal history background checks (including an FBI fingerprint check if applicable), as well as a pre-employment drug screen and TB test.
  • Have a valid, State of Texas Driver’s License, and:
    • At least three (3) consecutive years of driving experience OR one (1) year of driving experience if over 27 years of age; AND an acceptable driving record. If in possession of an out-of-state license, obtain a State of Texas Driver’s License within 90 days of beginning employment.

Please Note: All new employees regardless of FTE status will be required to start their employment on either the 1st or 16th of the month and will be required to attend a three-day new employee orientation that is held both in-person and virtually.
