Counselor
SAFE Counseling Department seeks two (2) full-time Counselors. The Counselor is responsible for providing survivor-centered and trauma-informed intakes, clinical assessments, crisis intervention and on-going individual, family and group counseling to youth and adult survivors of child abuse, domestic violence, sexual violence and/or human trafficking. The Counselor also provides advocacy when appropriate.

About this position:
- We need two (2) people to fill the role of Counselor. This is a full-time exempt position at our Grove Blvd. Campus. We will pay you an annual salary of $57,000-$60,000 dependent upon experience. Bilingual candidates will additionally receive an annual language differential of $3600.
Key Duties:
- Provide survivor-centered and trauma-informed intakes, clinical assessments, crisis intervention and ongoing counseling for adults, children, families and groups through telehealth, in-person at SAFE campuses or offsite at partner agencies in the community.
- Routinely schedule the required number of direct service hours per week, including clinical evening hours.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills through rapport building with clients and values difference when working with clients from various backgrounds.
- Provide referrals for community resources, legal resources, mental health services and follow-up counseling when indicated for clients.
- Comply with mandatory reporting laws.
- Comply with agency confidentiality policy and handles client information in a sensitive and respectful manner.
- Prepare accurate and timely case documentation in accordance with agency and departmental documentation guidelines. All documentation must meet the standards of SAFE policy and procedures, state licensing requirements and funding/grant requirements.
- Attend required meetings and participate in program planning and team-building efforts.
Qualifications:
- Possess a Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field.
- Possess a current clinical license in the state of Texas (LMSW, LCSW, LPC-Associate, LPC, LMFT-Associate, or LMFT).
- Bilingual (fluent Spanish and English) preferred.
- Have at least two years of experience providing counseling to adult and child survivors of trauma.
- Must have knowledge of human development, family systems, and appropriate therapy modalities for sexual and domestic violence survivors and their families.
- Possess a strong understanding of the dynamics of sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse and/or human trafficking.
- Possess a solid understanding of assessment tools, trauma-informed modalities and group dynamics.
- Experience in working with varied ethnic groups and demonstrated cultural competence.
- Experience with crisis-intervention preferred.
- Knowledge of social service, social welfare, mental health, and criminal justice agencies in the Austin area preferred.
- Pass all required criminal history background checks (including an FBI fingerprint check), as well a pre-employment drug screen and TB test if applicable.

Please Note: All new employees regardless of employment status will be required to start their employment on either the 1st or 16th of the month and will be required to attend a three-day new employee orientation that is held both in-person and virtually on the first three days of the month.
