what WE need YOU to do for us

We need you to fill the role of SAFE Communications & Development Intern. This is a part time position. You’ll wow us by masterfully performing the following key duties and responsibilities:

  • Instilling trust and being client/customer focused while making/answering phone calls and emails regarding upcoming fundraising events, volunteering and in-kind donations.
  • Valuing differences and modeling great interpersonal skills while working with different audiences – community volunteer groups, fundraising event committees, and potential donors.  Will schedule activities, manage event needs, and research potential donors with grace and tact.
  • Being resilient, resourceful, and making quality decisions by remaining cool, calm, and solution-oriented during fundraising events and when facing difficult client/customer situations.
  • Being organized and able to help develop press lists; create a comprehensive list of SAFE brochures, literature, materials and posters; develop a log of all blogs created and published by SAFE; and assist in organizing all Communications’ efforts.
  • Being a skilled writer and successfully updating the SAFE website, drafting research documents on potential donors (individuals, foundations, and corporations); and assisting in drafting donor communications.
  • Will work as a team member by taking on other duties as assigned.   

to be successful in this role, WE’LL need YOU to

  • Have at least a high school diploma and some college credit.  A college degree is preferred. 
  • Have experience working in an office environment as well as customer service experience is strongly preferred.
  • Respond to the public via email, phone calls, and in-person contact with grace, tact, and overall politeness.
  • Be comfortable with Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word.  Employee must be moderately comfortable with Microsoft Excel. 
  • Pass all required criminal history background checks (including an FBI fingerprint check), as well as submit to a pre-employment drug screen and TB test.
  • Adhere to our Guiding Principles, Mission, Core Competencies and Confidentiality Policy.
