Foster & Adopt Outreach and Support Specialist

Foster and Adopt in Austin (FAIA) seeks a full-time Outreach and Support Specialist. FAIA provides foster care, adoption services, and kinship care to families in Central Texas using trauma informed, trust based curriculum.  The Outreach and Support Specialist provides training and services to families and children in the program to support lasting, healing placements.

About this position:

  • We need you to fill the role of Outreach and Support Specialist. This is a FULL TIME, EXEMPT position at our Rathgeber Village location.  There is also an expectation for travel and  work in our foster homes, with various organizations, and partners in Austin and surrounding areas.  We will pay you an annual salary of $41,000-$43,000.

Key Duties:

  • Recruits foster and adoptive families from all different backgrounds.
  • Co-leads training, completes logistics of training, and creates training for families.
  • Facilitates quarterly supervisory home visits to foster and adoptive homes.
  • Provides in home clinical support and coaching as needed and assigned.
  • Manages babysitting program for foster families.
  • Conducts background checks of potential foster/adoptive families and their supports.
  • Participates in on-call rotation, providing emergency assistance to families and children.
  • Demonstrates ability to manage emotions and perform in high pressure and/or crisis situation with calm, care, and unconditional positive regard for families and children.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Social Services field.
  • Three to Five years of experience in working in foster care system role strongly preferred.
  • Training in Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) strongly preferred.
  • Pass all required criminal history background checks (including an FBI fingerprint check), as well a pre-employment drug screen and TB test.
