Family Shelter seeks a full-time coordinator for our Shelter Away Program. The Shelter Away program is a grant funded program designed to increase shelter capacity during the COVID 19 pandemic. This position will provide direct face to face services to clients staying in the Shelter Away Hotel program.

About this position:
We need you to fill the role of Shelter Away Client Support Coordinator. This is This is a FULL TIME, NON-EXEMPT, grant funded/limited position at our Shelter Away Program. This position will work 50% of the time from an offsite location in the community. We will pay you an hourly salary of $15.00. This position is eligible for a $2.00 differential for face to face work as well as a $1 language differential for candidates who are bilingual in the English and Spanish languages. The hours are Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. This position requires driving a 15 passenger van.
Provides support and guidance to survivors of domestic violence, child abuse, sexual abuse and/or human trafficking residing in our Shelter Away Program.
Maintain a safe environment by de-escalating or responding to crisis situations in a professional and respectful manner, engage the support of emergency services when needed, and document any such incidents according to the facility’s standards
Conducts daily face to face check-ins with the clients.
Be the liaison between the shelter away clients and family shelter teams and services on campus.
Provide crisis intervention and resident assistance to those in the Family Shelter
Assess and communicate client needs to Family Shelter staff related to but not limited by new arrival orientation, changes in safety concerns, and program exits.
Establish and maintain expectations for cleanliness and conditions of the rooms with clients during their stay.
Coordinate, deliver and distribute basic needs and essential items to clients.
Maintain and stock the staff storage area at the hotel and implement systems for access and distribution of items to clients.
Completing all required data entry for clients, such as client service logs.
Keeping/organizing monthly costs of supplies/inventory.
Driving an agency van to provide assistance to clients with transporting of personal items to and from the Shelter Away hotel program.
Other duties as assigned.
Possess an Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field or relevant life, work or volunteer experience (may substitute for work experience)
1-2 years’ direct client or crisis intervention experience preferred
Experience working with domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking or homeless programs
Ability to work in a high stress, fast-paced environment while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor
Ability to establish rapport, trust and boundaries with clients
Ability to use office equipment, Microsoft Office products, and other software on a PC platform to enter/update data into our database regularly
Pass all required criminal history background checks (including an FBI fingerprint check), as well a pre-employment drug screen and TB test.
Have a valid, State of Texas Driver’s License, and:
At least three (3) consecutive years of driving experience OR one (1) year of driving experience if over 27 years of age; and
An acceptable driving record; and
If in possession of an out-of-state license, obtain a State of Texas Driver’s License within 90 days of beginning employment.
