Children’s Services Program seeks a full time Children’s Advocate. A primary focus is assisting in providing therapeutic, educational, social and recreational programming for children residing in SAFE’s Family Shelter, Community Shelter and onsite Supportive Housing Program through a yearlong after school program and summer enrichment program. The Children’s Advocate will also assist in case management/advocacy and will carry a caseload between 10-15 families.

About this position:
- We need you to fill the role of Children’s Advocate. This is a full-time, non-exempt position at our Grove Location. We will pay you an hourly salary of $18.00-19.00 based on experience. Candidates who are bilingual in the English and Spanish languages are eligible for a language differential.
Key Duties:
- Plan and implement therapeutic, recreational, and social programming to children residing in our Grove Campus emergency shelter, our community shelter (operates under a scattered site model) and supportive housing program.
- Plan and implement psycho-educational groups for children participating in general support, LifeSkills, and peer support groups.
- Provide case management to children and families residing in the Grove Campus emergency shelter, supportive housing program and Community Shelter that operates on a scattered model.
- Serve as a role model for positive interaction with children.
- Seek and utilize additional resources within the community to create additional services for children.
- Work with other shelter and supportive housing teams to provide parents with information and observations about children.
Qualifications:
- Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in social work, education, child development or related field; or equivalent life and/or work experiences.
- Bilingual Preferred (Spanish/English) but not required.
- Preference of 1 year experience working with children and a high preference for applicants that have worked in a residential program, with homeless youth, or children that have experienced violence/abuse.
- Pass all required criminal history background checks (including an FBI fingerprint check), as well a pre-employment drug screen and TB test.

Please note: All new employees regardless of FTE status will be required to start their employment on either the 1st or 16th of the month and will be required to attend a three-day new employee orientation that is held both in-person and virtually.
*Benefits are prorated based on date of hire and hours worked. Eligibility is dependent upon FTE, status, etc.
