what WE need YOU to do for us

We need you to fill the role of Overnight Youth Care Worker. This is a FULL TIME (36 hours), NON-EXEMPT position. You’ll wow us by masterfully performing the following key duties and responsibilities:

  • Monitoring the behavior and activities of children and youth in a residential child care setting
  • Providing a safe, comfortable, and nurturing environment
  • Providing direct care programs and services to assigned children
  • Serving as a positive role model to the children and youth
  • Applying approved behavior modification techniques to de-escalate inappropriate behaviors
  • Performing physical containments of youth when necessary to prevent harm to self or to others
  • Providing positive reinforcement and support to youth

to be successful in this role, WE’LL need YOU to

  • Possess a High School Diploma or GED (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
  • Two years’ experience working with children who have experienced abuse, neglect, or who have special need
  • Be 21 years of age or older.
  • Possess a valid, State of Texas Driver’s License for at least 5 consecutive years and have an acceptable driving record; if in possession of an out-of-state license, obtain a State of Texas Driver’s License within 90 days of beginning employment.
  • Pass all required criminal history background checks (including an FBI fingerprint check), as well as submit to a pre-employment drug screen and TB test.
  • Per state requirements (DFPS, HHS) you must be at least 21 years of age to be considered for this position. 
  • Adhere to our Guiding Principles, Mission, Core Competencies and Confidentiality Policy.

how WE’LL make it worth YOUR while

  • We will pay you $13.00/Hr
  • We’ll pay for your medical, life and short-term disability insurance, if eligible. 
  • We will give you 15 accrued paid time off days in the first year, and 22 days in the second year, capping out at 30 days after year seven.
  • We’ll pay you for our six agency holidays and four additional personal holidays to be used at your discretion.
  • We’ll contribute 2% to your 403(b) retirement, and we’ll kick in an additional 1% if you agree to match it.
  • We understand that you have commitments outside of the workplace, and we’ll do our very best to offer you some flexibility in your work schedule.
  • All SAFE employees are eligible to enroll their children in our Trauma-Informed Early Childhood Program (ages 3 months to 5 years, space permitting).  Priority is given to full-time employees.
