what WE need YOU to do for us

We need you to fill the role of a Resident Advisor. This is a FULL Time, NON-EXEMPT position. You’ll wow us by masterfully performing the following key duties and responsibilities:

  • Provides front desk coverage (answering incoming calls, responding to intercoms, assisting residents at the front desk, etc.)
  • Conduct client intakes and exits from shelter in accordance with Safe policies and procedures. 
  • Maintain a safe shelter environment by de-escalating or responding to crisis situations in a professional and respectful manner, engage the support of emergency services when needed, and document any such incidents according to the facility’s standards.
  • Provide crisis intervention and resident assistance to those in the Family Shelter.

to be successful in this role, WE’LL need YOU to

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field or relevant life experience, work, volunteer experience
  • 1 - 2 years' direct client  or crisis intervention experience preferred
  • Experience working with domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking or homeless programs
  • Ability to work in a high stress, fast-paced environment while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to establish rapport, trust, and boundaries with clients.
  • Ability to use office equipment, Microsoft Office products, and other software on a PC platform to enter/update data into our database regularly.
  • Pass all required criminal history background checks (including an FBI fingerprint check), as well as submit to a pre-employment drug screen and TB test.
  • Adhere to our Guiding Principles, Mission, Core Competencies and Confidentiality Policy.

how WE’LL make it worth YOUR while

  • We will pay you $13.00-$14.50 per hour
  • There is a language differential for applicants who speak Spanish
  • We’ll pay for your medical, life and short-term disability insurance, if eligible.
  • NONEXEMPT: We will give you 15 accrued paid time off days in the first year, and 22 days in the second year, capping out at 30 days after year seven.
  • NONEXEMPT: We’ll pay you for our six agency holidays and four additional personal holidays to be used at your discretion.
  • NONEXEMPT: After your first year of employment working a minimum of 1000 hours, we’ll contribute 2% to your 403(b) retirement, and we’ll kick in an additional 1% if you agree to match it.
  • We understand that you have commitments outside of the workplace, and we’ll do our very best to offer you some flexibility in your work schedule.
  • We’ll provide you with an amazing work environment where you’ll get to make a difference every day.
  • All SAFE employees are eligible to enroll their children in our Trauma-Informed Early Childhood Program (ages 3 months to 5 years, space permitting).  Priority is given to full-time employees.
