Sexual Assault Victim Advocate – PRN/On-call/Relief/Flexible!

The SAFE Alliance’s Sexual Assault Victim Advocacy Program seeks a PRN (on-call) Sexual Assault Accompaniment Specialist (victim advocate) to provide medical accompaniment to survivors of sexual assault during their forensic exam for evidence collection.

About SAFE:

  • SAFE’s mission is our name: Stop Abuse For Everyone. We achieve our mission by acknowledging and responding to the intersection of child abuse, sexual assault, human trafficking, and domestic violence.
  • The SAFE Alliance grew out of the courageous work of the Center for Battered Women, the Austin Rape Crisis Center, and the Austin Children’s Shelter, all respected, women-led human service agencies created by volunteers and informed by survivors who needed support, safety and justice.
  • With over 20 programs and 400 staff, we have been serving the Austin community and beyond for over 30 years.
  • The SAFE Alliance strongly encourages members of traditionally underrepresented communities to apply, including Black, Indigenous, and people of color; LGBTQ+ identified people; gender-nonconforming people; individuals with disabilities; veterans; and people who speak a language in addition to English.

About this position:

  • We need you to fill the role of Sexual Assault Accompaniment Specialist (victim advocate). This is a PRN (on-call), non-exempt position primarily during weekends and M-F evenings. • Must have ability to remain calm while providing crisis stabilization and establish rapport and trust without self-disclosure of your personal history (if applicable).
  • Must have ability to engage survivors and really be present; be comfortable bearing witness to another’s process, while maintaining separation between any past trauma of your own (if applicable) and the survivor’s current crisis as this work can be triggering.
  • Must maintain good professional boundaries.
  • Pass all required criminal history background checks (including an FBI fingerprint check), as well a pre-employment drug screen and TB test.
  • You must have and maintain reliable transportation and state-required vehicle insurance and registration during participation in the program and be able to arrive at any medical facility in Travis County in less than 60 minutes.
