Resident Advisor Program Manager-Family Shelter

Family Shelter seeks a Resident Advisor Program Manager: The Resident Advisor Program Manager is responsible for the coordination and supervision of all services delivered by the 24/7 Resident Advisor Team and oversight to program services that promote the safety, healing, and empowerment of survivors residing in the emergency shelter. The resident advisors serves as a support staff to clients in shelter. They help ensure that the building and clients are safe in line with the shelter policies and procedures. They also, keep the residents informed of any news and offer residents advice on communal adjustment. This position reports directly to the Shelter Director and serves as a member on the leadership team.

About this position:

  • We need you to fill the role of Resident Advisor Program Manager. This is a FULL TIME, EXEMPT position at our Family Shelter on the Grove Campus. This position primarily works during the day, but may work evenings and/or weekends as needed to ensure 24/7 coverage for the shelter. We will pay you an annual salary of $46,000-$52,600. 

Key Duties:

  • Provide oversight for the Resident Advisor program services that include admissions & intake, front desk reception & security and communal support.
  • Provide supervision that instills trust and ensures accountability in supporting 24/7 Resident Advisors and the Resident Advisor Shift Manager, including assisting in interviewing, hiring, training & evaluation of staff.
  • Demonstrates the ability to maintain a trauma informed, victim centered environment through staff coaching, vicarious trauma support, and supporting trauma informed approaches to clients.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage emotions and perform in high pressure and/or crisis situation with calm, care, and unconditional positive regard for clients.
  • Assists clients with crisis intervention, cooperative living support, and problem solving & conflict resolution.
  • Assists with maintaining systems for documenting the effectiveness and efficiency of services specific to intakes, exits, and required data collection and reporting.
  • Completes the scheduling for the Resident Advisor team and ensures that there is coverage to meet the needs of a 24/7 shelter.
  • Serves on back up manager rotation, ensuring 24/7 on call availability to shelter staff.


  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or a related field required.
  • Two years’ experience in direct client work required. Preference given to experience in a residential, crisis, and/or homeless or domestic violence shelter program.
  • Two years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Have at least three (3) consecutive years of driving experience OR one (1) year of driving experience if over 27 years of age.
  • Pass all required criminal history background checks (including an FBI fingerprint check), as well a pre-employment drug screen and TB test.
