what WE need YOU to do for us

We need you to fill the role of Family Support Specialist. This is a FULL TIME, salaried/exempt position. You’ll wow us by masterfully performing the following key duties and responsibilities:

  • Provides support to Family Services Coordinator and Case Manager by providing on-going oversight, support and supervision to foster, foster/adopt and adopt- only families for the FAIA program a DFPS licensed child placing
  • Assists in orientation and pre-service training for prospective foster parents and the on-going training of foster parents and staff. Documents per FAIA documentation policy
  • Reviews monthly supervisory visit checklist for compliance – conducts supervisory reviews and unannounced visits of foster homes as required.
  • Assists Case Managers and/or participants  in the implementationand development of trauma-informed milieu, structure and strategies in foster homes
  • Ensures the implementation of corrective action or development plans to resolve issues of policy, compliance, safety, or well being of children in care with SAFE families
  • May carry a case-load as well
  • May participate in pre-verification process

to be successful in this role, WE’LL need YOU to

  • Possess a Bachelors Degree  in Social Work or related field
  • 2 years of experience working with foster families or Child Protective Services
  • Possess valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle, and insurance as a driver
  • Available to provide home visits on evenings and/or weekends (as needed), and on an emergency basis.
  • Able to establish and maintain professional boundaries while providing supportive services.
  • Pass all required criminal history background checks (including an FBI fingerprint check), as well as submit to a pre-employment drug screen and TB test.
  • Adhere to our Guiding Principles, Mission, Core Competencies and Confidentiality Policy.

how WE’LL make it worth YOUR while

  • We will pay you an annual salary of $35,000-$40,000.
  • We’ll pay for your medical, life and short-term disability insurance.
  • We will give you 15 accrued paid time off days in the first year, and 22 days in the second year, capping out at 30 days after year seven.
  • We’ll pay you for our six agency holidays and four additional personal holidays to be used at your discretion.
  • We’ll contribute 2% to your 403(b) retirement, and we’ll kick in an additional 1% if you agree to match it.
  • We understand that you have commitments outside of the workplace, and we’ll do our very best to offer you some flexibility in your work schedule.
  • We’ll offer you discounted day care for your kiddos at one of our two onsite day care centers, as enrollment allows.
