Survivor Peer Support Specialist (SA)

The Peer Support Program of the SAFE Alliance seeks two full-time peer support specialists who will be working specifically with sexual assault survivors within the SAFE Alliance and in the community at large.  The peer support specialists will use their own lived experience to support and connect survivors to resources.

  • The SAFE Alliance grew out of the courageous work of the Center for Battered Women, the Austin Rape Crisis Center, and the Austin Children’s Shelter, all respected, women-led human service agencies created by volunteers and informed by survivors who needed support, safety and justice.

About this position:

  • We need you to fill the role of Survivor Peer Support Specialist (SA). This is a FULL TIME, NON-EXEMPT position at our Grove location with lots of community based and travel for work expectations. We will pay you an annual salary of $32,000 -$34,000.

Key Duties:

  • Provide client centered trauma informed and survivor lead individual peer support sessions with sexual assault survivors
  • Provide client centered, trauma informed and survivor lead group peer support sessions with sexual assault survivors
  • Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders for case coordination and support to sexual assault survivors.
  • Connection to and advocacy within systems to support survivor access to services as they identify.
  • Help coordinate the scheduling of peer support volunteers to facilitate peer support groups and provide wraparound supervision to Peer Support Program volunteers.
  • Complete all required documentation in a timely manner, including service logs and other data entry.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a survivor of sexual assault/human trafficking and able to use lived experience to connect and support other survivors to resources.
  • Have or willing to obtain peer support certification is helpful but not necessary
  • Pass all required criminal history background checks (including an FBI fingerprint check), as well a pre-employment drug screen and TB test.
